Customer languages
One funnel, several languages: business languages, the contact's language, translated texts, picking a language in a bot and separate funnels per language.
Business languages
Settings → Languages for contacts. Add the languages you write to customers in and pick the default one. The default language is used for contacts whose language is not on the list, and it fills any missing translation. With a single language, no translation fields appear in the admin.
Removing a language does not erase translations already written: add it back and they work again.
The contact's language
The language is shown on the contact page and next to the name in a chat. It comes from:
- the person's own choice in a bot;
- a manager, on the contact page;
- an import (the language column);
- the Telegram app's language, only as a guess while the language is empty. A guess never overrides a person's choice.
Translations
With several languages, a funnel step's text, a button label, a broadcast and an email have a field per language. The funnel's structure stays one: translating breaks nothing, because buttons are not recognised by their label. Missing a translation, the contact gets the default language, and the editor warns which steps are untranslated. It does not stop publishing.
Words the bot writes by itself (like the Share my number button) also follow the contact's language.
Picking a language in a bot
Separate funnels per language
When the content differs between languages, not just the wording, make a separate funnel and pick the contact languages in its start settings. At equal priority it starts instead of the general one. Broadcasts have a contact-language filter too.
