Viber
How to connect a Viber bot, what Viber's terms are and how the channel differs from Telegram.
Viber's terms
Since 5 February 2024, new Viber bots are created only under a contract with Viber or through its partner. Viber's terms:
- about €100 a month per bot;
- messages in a conversation the customer started are included in that fee;
- messages the bot starts itself (broadcasts included) are paid to Viber per delivered message, at the rate of the recipient's country.
You pay this to Viber, not to Bordee. Bots created before February 2024 keep Viber's old model.
Connecting
Viber issues the token together with the bot (through a partner or in the bot's admin panel). Go to Settings → Channels → Connect a channel, choose Viber and paste the token. Bordee registers the webhook itself.
Links and labels
Open the channel to see the link to the bot and the link with a start label, like /start in Telegram. The label starts the funnel with the same label, and visit codes from your sites work just as in Telegram.
Limits
- Until a person has written to the bot, Viber allows a single welcome message within 5 minutes. Make the funnel's first step a message with buttons: a tap subscribes the person to the bot.
- You cannot write to a contact who is not subscribed to the bot until they write first.
- Whoever unsubscribes from the bot is marked as blocked, and broadcasts skip them.
- Viber fetches photos and files by link; Bordee creates temporary protected links for them itself.
