Google Workspace mail
Your team's Gmail mailboxes inside Bordee: correspondence, links to contacts, a full archive and an action log.
What it is
The Google Workspace mail module brings your domain's mailboxes into the admin: the Gmail mail menu item with the Letters, Mailboxes and Mail log tabs. A letter sent from Bordee goes through Gmail and sits in the mailbox's Sent folder.
Connecting a mailbox
Gmail mail → Mailboxes. Each mailbox is connected by signing in to it with Google, so Bordee sees only the mailboxes someone signed in to, never the whole domain.
- Connect my mailbox: a staff member's personal mailbox.
- Connect a shared mailbox: sales@, info@ and so on; done by whoever manages mail.
After connecting, Bordee imports the last 12 months of mail; new letters then arrive every minute. Disconnect returns the access to Google; letters already received stay in the archive.
Working with letters
The Letters tab: the Inbox, Sent, Unread, Assigned to me and All filters, a mailbox picker and search by subject, text and address. In a letter: Reply, Reply all, Forward, attachments up to 25 MB in total.
A letter can get an owner and a linked contact (or Create a contact). Threads link to a contact by the other party's address by themselves, and the contact's page has a Letters tab.
Remote images in letters are hidden, because they tell the sender the letter was opened. A button shows them.
Archive and log
Every letter of connected mailboxes, whether received, sent from Bordee or written directly in Gmail, is kept forever with its original .eml and attachments. A letter deleted in Gmail is only marked as such.
The Mail log records who connected or disconnected a mailbox, opened, sent or forwarded a letter, downloaded a file or the original, and assigned an owner. Log entries cannot be changed or deleted.
Who sees what
| Role permission | What it gives |
|---|---|
| Connect your own Gmail mailbox | Your own personal mailbox |
| Work with shared mailboxes | Shared mailboxes: read and write |
| See all mailboxes | Other people's personal mailboxes too (read only) |
| Connect shared mailboxes and see the log | Managing mail |
Reading someone else's mailbox does not mean writing from it: you can write only from your own and shared mailboxes. Letters assigned to you are always visible to you.
