Emails through your mail service
How to connect an SMTP or API mail service and send emails to contacts from funnels, with unsubscribe and a log.
What it is for
The Email module sends emails to contacts from funnels: a lead confirmation, an instructions email, a reminder. Emails go through your own mail service, so the domain reputation and limits are yours.
It is not a mailbox for corresponding with customers; for that, see Google Workspace mail.
Setup
Settings → Email. Choose a service:
| Service | What you need |
|---|---|
| SMTP | Server, port, encryption, login, password. Works with any service: Google Workspace, Brevo, SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES, your host's mail |
| Brevo | An API key (Brevo → SMTP & API → API Keys) |
| SendGrid | An API key with Mail Send permission |
| Mailgun | An API key, the sending domain, the region (US or EU) |
| Postmark | A Server API token and a Message stream |
| Resend | An API key |
Then set the sender: a name and an address, and a reply-to address if you need one. Keys and passwords are stored encrypted and never shown again; an empty field on save keeps the stored value.
Testing
Send a test email delivers a message to the address you give. Below is the Email log: every email, where it came from (a funnel, a test), its state and the service's own error text.
An email from a funnel
In a funnel's Actions step, choose Send an email: a subject and Markdown text (bold, links, lists) with placeholders such as {{contact.first_name}}. Both can be translated, and the contact gets the email in their language.
A contact without an email address, or one who unsubscribed, is skipped and the funnel carries on.
Unsubscribe
Every email gets an unsubscribe link automatically, plus the headers for one-click unsubscribe in Gmail and Yahoo. Whoever unsubscribes gets no more emails.
